All Bloodborne Pathogen Awareness class contents follow the core curriculum guidelines of the University of Washington AIDS Education and Training Center as approved by the state of Washington's Department of Health and Department of Professional Licensing.
The 2-hour course meets state requirements for those who need annual bloodborne pathogen training, or are foster or adoptive parents, or provide health care for adults.
The 4-hour course meets state requirements for those who registered counselors and social workers, pharmacy assistants, veterinarians and assistants, and massage therapists.
The 7-hour course meets state requirements for those in the health or medical field such as physicians, nurses, dentists, naturopathic, radiology and x-ray technicians, heath field students and assistants and Adult Family Home mangers or providers.
Depending upon class length, topics included in the classes are Etiology and epidemiology, transmission and infection control, clinic manifestations and treatment, testing and counseling, legal and ethical issues, and psychosocial issues including special populations.
